The Schnucks brand is actually famed as a supermarket chain, and it was started by Edwin and Anna Schnuck as a confectionary store in St. Louis back in 1939. Edwin established a meat department in the store which complemented the homemade deli items and other staple items. This meat department quickly grew a reputation for outstanding quality at affordable prices.

The Restaurant Selections by Schnucks
The Schnucks grocery stores have a deli section that offers prepared meals, and back in early 2021, Schnucks introduced their new deli innovation to give new life back into its deli department. This is a new meal program that’s inspired by the usually high food service quality, and they call this program “Restaurant Selections by Schnucks”.
The overall goal is to offer their customers healthier meals, and at the same time, these foods also try to match the quality found in restaurants. These should then be high-quality dining options that are actually delicious. The food should then be ideal for those who don’t want to wait long for their food, but who also want popular, flavorful meals that they won’t be embarrassed to serve to their friends and families.
Schnucks has various “Eat Good to Feel Great” cuisines with lots of dishes, including Mediterranean turkey meatloaf, turkey stuffed peppers, smokehouse rotisserie pork roast, and roasted salmon fillets.
Every 2 months, the themes of the menu can then change. Thus, the menu might then focus on Italian and Mediterranean dishes including chicken scallopini, pork osso bucco, sausage and peppers, and linguine carbonara.
All the meals will also come with a selection of side dishes. These can include roasted beets with feta, wild rice pilaf, and cauliflower mash.
Other possible themes include BBQ, Southwest cuisine, Pan-Asian options, and everyday comfort foods.
Great Food Options
Standard food options include:
Entrees
For your entrees, you can just get a bucket of the hot chicken wings, with either the spicy glazed or buffalo sauce. Or you can go with 8 or 12 pieces of the signature fried chicken, which have been hand-tossed with their special blend of seasonings. There are boneless chicken fingers as well as rotisserie chicken as well.
But if you’re not in the mood for some chicken, you can go with the 1 pound of cold BBQ pulled pork. This is an all-natural option that’s been slow-cooked and lightly smoked, and tossed in a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. One pound of this is enough for 2 or 3 people.
Or, you can go with the chicken bacon ranch wrap, with the all-white meat chicken accompanied by bacon, cheddar cheese, and various freshly chopped greens.
What about sandwiches? A good option is the King of the Hill, featuring Volpi Genoa salami, ham roast beef, and Provel cheese, plus pepperoncini, tomato, and lettuce, all on a 12-inch Vitale bread.
If you want a smaller sandwich on a 7-inch Vitale bread, try the Gourmet Poorboy. This gets you ham and roast beef with American and Swiss cheeses.
There’s also the Sicilian Sandwich on a fresh, 7-inch bread. It features pepperoni, roast beef, and ham topped with provolone cheese.
Sides
There are at least 9 sides to pick from, but you can’t go wrong with mac and cheese that’s huge enough for 3 to 4 people. They use their own recipe here, and it features cavatappi pasta in a creamy cheese sauce.
Salads
There are 5 salads here, aside from the salads that are included in the Sides section. Try the Greek Salad, which features a spring mix, feta, kalamata olives, fresh tomatoes, and cucumber.
